Medical Assistant/Phone Triage

We are looking for a Medical Assistant/Phone Triage teammate to contribute in their own unique way to our Company’s exceptional services and performance for our patients.
This position is classified as Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
Objective:
Under direct supervision of leadership, the Medical Assistant/Phone Triage will serve as direct support for the Call Center, Patients, and Dermatologist. The primary goal of the Medical Assistant/Phone Triage is to increase the efficiency and the productivity of the Call Center and Dermatologist, while providing excellent care and customer service to our patients.
Qualifications:
- Medical Assistant training from an accredited technical school or equivalent experience.
- Three to five years or more of experience as a medical assistant.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
Job Duties:
- Understand and follow complex technical instructions.
- Conduct telephone triage for ambulatory patients by assessing symptoms, determining urgency and providing appropriate care instructions or referrals.
- Utilize clinic protocols and decision-support tools to ensure safe, evidence-based recommendations for patient care.
- Document all patient interactions accurately in the electronic health record to maintain compliance and continuity of care.
- Collaborate with physicians, medical assistants, and other healthcare team members to coordinate follow-up appointments, diagnostic testing, or emergency interventions as needed.
- Provide patient education on self-care, medications, and when to seek further medical attention, ensuring clear communication and understanding.
- Communicate effectively and assertively while demonstrating compassion and empathy for individual situations.
- Understand medical terminology, diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment assessments.
- Complies with all state, federal, and organizational policies, and procedures.
- Communicate test results to patient via MyChart message, telephone call, or registered letter.
- Complete prior authorizations for non-biologic medications.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Education:
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED required, some college preferred.
- Maintenance of current Basic Life Support (BLS).
